Chick-fil-a Founder Offers Reward for Kurca
S. Truett Cathy, who built Chick-fil-a from a single location in an Atlanta
strip mall into a national chain of over 1,300 restaurants has issued a
giant challenge. In a news release issued earlier this week, Cathy pledged
a reward of $100,000 to anyone who could end the Kurca's reign of terror
across the United States.
Reached by phone in his Atlanta home, Cathy describes his motives for
capturing the giant chicken as two-fold. 'It's high time we stop this darned
bird from scaring people,' said Cathy. 'Plus, it's played heck with the
chicken business. People are afraid to eat it because they don't want to
get the you know what kicked out of 'em.'
While Cathy would not say what his plans for the chicken were if it is
captured, those close to him said he is seriously considering frying up
the bird as part of a charity chicken dinner. "He commented the other day
that he wondered what that bird would taste like," said the son of S. Truett
Cathy and President of Chick-fil-a, Dan Cathy. "He joked about digging up
some giant potatoes to go with it."
